WOMEN EMPOWERMENT- A Step Towards Achieving Gender Equality!

Women play a vital role in the environment, world without women cannot be imagined. They constitute ½ of the world’s population and are equally intelligent like the men.

The society had portrayed two different images of the women: one is family oriented and the other modern, working, liberal, independent and educated.

In ancient times, women were mother goddess – giving birth, she was Devi, Shakti and Durga. Her life was surrounded around the men, as a daughter dependent on father, in youth age dependent on husband as a wife, in old age dependent on her son.

During Post independence she had also to face gender inequality. Increase in education facilities and opportunity gave a new ray of hope to her, wherein the judiciary system also amended the law and focused more on the protection of women’s right.

Today the women have created their own identity in the professional as well as domestic front. Economic independence has given them the confidence to play the roles of wives, mothers, daughters, daughter in laws, ministers, speakers, and governors. They have created tremendous leap in their journey of equality, respect and independence.

Even today modern working women’s are also facing problems. They are burdened with domestic and professional duties. They are subjected to eve teasing, molestations when they step out of the home. They also face workplace harassment at large number.

The judiciary had often come to rescue them by framing laws based on gender equality.

Media has confronted with the issues like marital rape, sexual harassment cases, and molestation cases. The various movements have come forward to support them emotionally, physically and financially.

They are becoming independent today in means of reproduction, live in relationships or working independently in the fields which they like.

From the concept of welfare in 70’s to the concept of development in 80’s to the concept of empowerment in 90’s they are inching forward in the society where they are able to think beyond the four walls , today the world has become a place to realize their worth.

They have to develop and changed their selves in means of happiness, security and contentment. The orthodox conservatives are losing their battles with confident, upwardly mobile confident women of today’s century.

So it’s the time where the women should be instead of dominating be appreciated for her efforts in every aspects may it be domestic work or professional field. World is nothing without a women, imagine a world without a women ,imagination is not only difficult but also impossible, so let’s come forward and give her a grand salute for the efforts and her work where today she has made a great progress not only in field of profession but also in fields of sports .

A grand salute to the ladies out there you are the best !!!!
